From the Newport Jazz Festival in the heart of coastal Newport, RI to the Detroit Jazz Festival in downtown Detroit, MI, jazz festivals usher in an art season to come. With warm notes pulled together in late August, jazz festivals welcome the closing of summer — and the soon greeting of autumn art. At least, that’s how Michael Ferro, Chicago Artist and Art Curator, welcomes the season! When jazz festival season comes around, Ferro knows fall is soon on its way. The sounds of today’s jazz musicians offer a wonderful soundtrack for the end of summer.
Michael Ferro Chicago Art Curator is especially looking forward to this year’s 2024 Hyde Park Jazz Festival, scheduled for September 28 and 29. This wonderful event is put on for the community for free. Attendees are encouraged to consider offering a donation of at least $10 to ensure that the festival can continue for years to come. This approach to ticket ‘sales’ is part of what keeps the Hyde Park Jazz Festival for the community. Accessibility to the arts is deeply ingrained in the Chicago arts scene, as experienced by Michael Ferro Chicago Art Curator.
